Northern Lakes College Business Plan2010 - 2013 Business Plan
'Serving Communities for Forty Years' Northern Lakes College Business Plan 2010-2013 intends to inform the public, college employees, and other stake-holders about the College’s strategic directions. A Balanced Scorecard approach was used for the strategic directions to provide a comprehensive view of operations. Goals are identified for each strategic direction. The plan is a three year plan so goals may or may not be addressed in the first year, and as the environment changes, the goals too may change. The plan provides a guide for aligning the resources and focus of the College; however, efforts are also made to maintain flexibility and responsiveness.
It is through Campus Alberta, our many partnerships and the strategic directions in this plan that we plan to continue achieving our goals. Where value can be added, Northern Lakes College will increase the quality of its programs and services so employees and students will excel. Northern Lakes College will respond to the needs of learners and employers to meet the employment demand in north-central Alberta.
This Business Plan includes the key foundation documents of our college; from the Mission Statement to the Mandate. The Mission Statement describes why we are in business. The Mandate statement describes, in more detail, the business we fulfil across our vast rural region and the problems we solve.
The two most important aspects of this College are the community-based access to quality programs and the strong student support service. The College Three Year Program Plan is created with input from our community education (advisory) committees and updated throughout the year. Innovative scheduling and delivery bring many programs to very small communities. The viability of program delivery across the region is made possible by the vision and dedication of communities, their ability to work together, and the critical mass that is created from on-line delivery.
Northern Lakes College is the most community-based college in Alberta. Initiatives in this plan have been updated to reflect adjustments due to the changes in the economy, the post-secondary environment, the 2009 regional stakeholder meeting and other external impacts.
