English as a Second Language

 

Program Year: 2010 - 2011

Program Length: 20 weeks or 40 weeks

Program Description:

This program is designed for students who have had limited to no exposure to English language instruction and provides students with the opportunity to learn the English language. Small group instruction allows for a variety of beginner English language proficiency levels to be accommodated in the program. Language instruction spans the introduction of sounds of letters to higher order thinking, reading and writing skills. As the program progresses, emphasis is placed on communication skills at home, work and in the community. A personal management component is included, the objective of which is the development of effective personal skills for personal and career development. Students will receive assistance from the Educational Counsellor and Learning Facilitator to determine the courses they require and to develop an Educational Plan.

Program Delivery:

Courses are delivered onsite using traditional classroom delivery.

- Attend a personal interview

Application Process:

Students applying for September should submit their application by May 1. Students applying for February should submit their application by December 1. Students should apply at least two months before their program starts to make sure they will have a place in the program. (Late applications may be considered pending available seats in the program.)
