Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) Education and Certification Program

 

Program Year: 2010-2011

Program Length: The courses will be offered at a pace to enable Certification to be achieved in just over 2 years.

Program Description:

Developed and authorized by the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC), made available online by Northern Lakes College, the “Maintenance Management Professional Education & Certification Program” consists of eight modules. Modules are structured to progressively help participants understand and embrace the various concepts necessary to be effective as a maintenance and physical asset management professional.  While not mandatory, it is recommended that the modules be taken and completed in the order in which they are listed.

The program is designed for individuals already in maintenance management or supervisory positions and are seeking formal training, or aspiring to management positions in the maintenance field or seeking full maintenance accreditation through the MMP designation (Maintenance Management Professional), or  for those seeking focused training in selected areas.

Individuals who successfully complete all 8 Modules and are members of the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada will receive the "Maintenance Management Professional" MMP designation from PEMAC.  Membership can be obtained before or at the time of certification.

The courses in this Certificate Program are approved for:  1)  the "Achievement in Business Competencies" (Blue Seal) program through the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Department 2)  "Continuing Education Unit Credits" for Alberta and Ontario Water/Waste Water Operators  3)  "Yves Landry Foundation and the Government of Ontario" - Ontario Employers maybe eligible to access up to $50,000.00 of training funds.

MM004 Module 3 - Human Resource Management for the Maintenance Manager
MM005 Module 4 - Finance Management for the Maintenance Manager
MM006 Module 5 - Developing and Implementing Maintenance Tactics
MM007 Module 6 - Maintenance Planning and Scheduling
MM008 Module 7 - Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
MM009 Module 8 - Capstone Course

Program Delivery:

Classes are all live on-line with the instructor and other students delivered over the internet.  A high-speed internet connected computer with speakers and microphone (or headset with mic) is required.  This can be at home, at work or via public access at your nearest campus or public library.  Five, three hour sessions for Module 1 and ten, three hour sessions for Modules 2 to 8.  Registered students are e-mailed a joining letter containing directions / passwords, etc and books are mailed /couriered. Assignments are handed in to the instructor by e-mail or faxing so the instructor can mark and provide guidance. An invigilator will be required for final exams.  Required attendance of the live online sessions is 60%.  Playback of missed sessions is required.

Admission Requirements:

No entrance requirements. Recommend that individuals have a high school diploma and a maintenance function at their workplace or prior trades related experience.

Application Process:

You can register right up until the day of the course, however, courses fill up quickly, so register early. - Internationally: must register early to receive textbooks on time.
