NLC Convocation 2019 Affected by Alberta Wildfires
Due to the ongoing wildfires in the Northern Lakes College service region, and the impact to students in the nine (9) communities that have been affected by either evacuation, evacuation alerts, or by hosting evacuees, NLC has postponed Convocation 2019 and the Capping & Pinning Ceremony to September.
The distress and anxiety that many students, staff, and community residents are experiencing remain the prime concern for the Board of Governors.
“Convocation should be a memorable and happy occasion. We understand that evacuations and evacuation alerts would make it difficult for a number of graduates to attend the ceremonies and we look forward to celebrating with all of you in September,” comments Daniel Vandermeulen, Chair of the Board of Governors.
The Convocation was originally scheduled for June 7 in High Prairie, with the Capping & Pinning ceremony to occur on the evening of June 6.
