Qualifications:

  • An Office Administration or Accounting Certificate;

  • Minimum of one year work experience in an accounting environment and/or office environment;

  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment;

  • A combination of relevant work experience and informal education will be considered;

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as computerized accounting software;

  • Good communication and organizational skills;

  • Good time management and multi-tasking skills;

  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail;

  • General understanding of construction and/or facilities in a post-secondary environment is not required but would be considered an asset;

  • Valid driver license;

  • Criminal record check prior to commencement.

Job Description – Facilities Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant will provide assistance to Facilities and its clients. Responsibilities are diverse and include accounts receivable/payable functions. The Facilities Accounting Assistant is part of a diverse team and should work effectively as part of this team along with liaising with the Finance dept. Team. The Accounting Assistant must have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel plus have a familiarity with financial transactions and databases. 

Primary areas of responsibility are:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reconciliations;

  • Track project spending for capital projects and IMP projects;

  • Filing of revenue documentation and other duties as assigned;

  • Reconciliation of project tracking to accounting system;

  • Provide support services to Facilities and Finance that are grant related

  • Assist with inputting data into VFA, processing work orders and tracking project spend;

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting to internal and external clients (IMP, WAP grant reporting;

  • Other duties as assigned by Management.
