Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting and in adherence to program standards any of the Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, TDG, WHMIS, Confined Space training sessions and any other safety certifications such as Forklift Training – please include all safety training you are qualified to teach. (must present valid certifications)
  • Three to five years’ experience working in a related occupation
  • Proven customer service skills and ability to effectively communicate to a diverse group  
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relations with Students and Industry Partners;
  • Proven organizational skills and quick turn-around of providing course data for processing by safety certifying bodies and providing all course data to the institution/organization
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle; preferred flexibility to travel to other locations
  • Must be proficient in a variety of computer skills
  • Preferred experience working with online Learning Management Systems

Position Description

Wage and/or Contract Safety Instructors

Nature and Scope of Work:

Northern Lakes College, Continuing Education and Corporate Training is hiring Safety Trainer(s) on a casual basis to meet the needs of the communities we serve. This position provides the delivery of relevant, accessible and quality safety training courses. Build and maintain stakeholder relations, and adhere to college values, policies, procedures and regulations. Work as an integral member of the program team. Mileage reimbursement, travel time pay, and accommodations may be provided as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver course content to participants in local communities
  • Ensure classrooms have adequate space, infrastructure and set up for training delivery
  • Provide all equipment and classroom consumables for safety training (example: First Aid – manikins for practical portion of course and more)
  • Complete required course paperwork in a timely fashion for the successful delivery of the training and quick turn-around of certificates to participants
  • Maintain a high standard of training and delivery equipment and report any OHS concerns to Northern Lakes College
  • Provide feedback on course to improve participant experience
