Virtual Food Hub

NLC Student Success is offering a Virtual Food Hub program for part-time and full-time NLC students who are facing food insecurity.

Food insecurity is the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient amount of affordable, nutritious food.1

Student Success recognizes that food insecurity is important to one’s mental health. Financial constraints due to rising grocery costs, living expenses, and educational costs all contribute to food insecurity.

Each month until June 2023, students can apply for one $100 gift card to a major grocery store to assist with issues of food insecurity. The number of gift cards available is limited. If demand for gift cards exceeds availability, students who have applied will be selected randomly to receive an available gift card. Students are eligible for the gift card once per academic year.

Selections will take place at 1:00pm on the following days:

    April 25, 2023
    May 30, 2023
    June 19, 2023

Applications submitted after the selection date/time will go into the following month's selection. If your name is not selected and you are still facing food insecurity we encourage you to please reapply the following month.

Additional resources are available, below. Our Educational Counsellors are also available to meet with you to explore additional options. Please contact Counselling Services at 1-866-652-3456 Ext.3222 or email counselling@northernlakescollege.ca
