Course Description
Before you begin teaching your course, you will need to plan the learning objectives and design your instructional strategies that will help learners achieve the objectives. In this course you will explore learning theories that will help in designing instruction. You will develop your skills in writing measurable and achievable learning objectives, and then develop effective learning activities and assessments that align with these objectives. You will also take into consideration the needs of adult learners and their varying learner preferences. You will design various learning activities and develop instructions for the role of the instructor and learner in participating in these activities. This will include writing lesson plans and explaining how the teaching strategies will help students learn. You will also consider both formal and non-formal assessment of learning by describing the purpose, rationale, and benefits of both. You will create varying types of assessment and feedback strategies that you can practice in the classroom, including authentic assessment. To accompany these, you will develop marking criteria to share with your learners and use to provide feedback on assessments. Peer feedback will be explored and practiced from a learner perspective.
