Michael Helferty

Michael Helferty has 30+ years industrial/manufacturing experience including senior roles in operations, maintenance, and engineering management and leadership. He has implemented maintenance management systems to achieve increased operational reliability and reduced cost while working with people and teams to achieve personal and organizational goals and objectives. In addition, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in human resources having administered collective agreements, including collective bargaining. He has a strong passion for safety, both in the workplace and at home, and has been a recurring speaker at WSPS (Workplace Safety and Prevention Services) events. Michael has also strategically and successfully laid out and aligned operations with the human resources required to meet organizational objectives. An in-class instructor for PEMAC since 2004 (Modules 1-4), Michael has taught Modules 2 and 3 online for four years.

This module focuses on the application of accounting and finance principles as it pertains to the maintenance management role. The module will give you an understanding of the foundation principles of accounting and cover the four main pillars of accounting knowledge the maintenance manager needs to support a successful maintenance department. These four main pillars are: Project Analysis, Budgeting/Forecasting, Cost Analysis for Managerial Decisions, and MRO Inventory.

 Basic understanding of accounting principles

 MRO inventory management

Sessions are delivered LIVE ONLINE via internet conferencing - distance learning. Ten, 3 hour weekly evening sessions.

Withdrawals and Refunds

 An administrative fee of $50 will be charged for all cancelled or transferred registrations.  There are no refunds for materials/shipping.  Less than 7 days before the module starts, a partial refund of 75% of the tuition fee is granted if the withdrawal of the registration is received: Module 1 - immediately after the 1st class. No refunds given after 1st class. Modules 2-8 - immediately after the 2nd class. No refunds given after 2nd class.


Northern Lakes College reserves the right to re-schedule or cancel a course that lacks sufficient registrations to provide a satisfactory learning atmosphere. In this event your registration fee will be refunded in full or applied to the re-scheduled course.
