Instructors

Jeff Horner

Jeff has been active in the oil and gas industry as contract field operator and plant operator for over 20 years. He has a background in Forestry, with a diploma from New Caledonia College in Prince George, B.C, and worked for over 20 years for private forestry companies. His work in both fields has taken him all over northern Alberta and northeastern B.C. Jeff was involved in wildfire suppression as a contractor for ASRD on several fires, the biggest being the 2003 Hillcrest Fire in the Crowsnest Pass. For fun, Jeff enjoys fishing, hunting, birdwatching and camping.

Peace River: Mar 07, 2018 - Mar 07, 2018

Are you an Oilfield Operator looking to enhance your abilities? Have you ever wondered how oil, gas and water are separated in a 3-Phase Separator? This course will provide you with an overview of 3-Phase Separator fundamentals, paired with hands-on training using lab demonstration equipment.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to competently perform the following (verified through employer observation/evaluation):
 Describe the gas, oil, and water flows in the separator.
 Describe the main parts of a separator and their function.
 Describe what happens inside a separator.
 Describe controllers and what they do in the inlet, water dump, oil dump, gas outlet and back pressure controller.
 Start up and shut down of the separator.

Please Note: You will need to supply your own PPE: Hard hat, coveralls & CSA approved steel-toed boots. Course material will be provided in-class.

Completion Requirements:
A mark of PASS will be awarded and a certificate of completion given if you meet the requirements:
 Attend for all class hours
 Actively participate in all aspects of this course including class discussions, peer evaluations, task demonstrations.
 Perform at a Competent level (score of 1) or Mastery level (score of 2) in at least 80% of the course.

Withdrawals and Refunds

Your registration will be fully refunded when notice of withdrawal is given seven (7) days before the course start date. When notification is received less than seven (7) days before the course start date, an invoice will be issued for full payment of the course. When you are unable to attend your course, you may arrange for someone to take your place by Contacting Continuing Education & Corporate Training at work@northernlakescollege.ca or 780-849-8623.

Cancellation

Northern Lakes College reserves the right to re-schedule or cancel a course that lacks sufficient registrations to provide a satisfactory learning atmosphere. In this event your registration fee will be refunded in full or applied to the re-scheduled course.
