Course Description

As our ability to detect contaminants and track the origins of illness improves, our requirements for robust and reliable disinfection methods increase. This course provides an understanding of the issues related to disinfection that are highly relevant for individuals who manage or operate wastewater treatment systems that include disinfection processes. Drinking water treatment Operators will also find this course highly informative. Participants will obtain an overall understanding of the requirements for disinfection and be provided with an overview of common methods of disinfection including their applications. Attendees will also learn about UV disinfection design standards, system operation, monitoring and maintenance requirements, and common UV operational challenges.

 Resolving Operational Challenges

Alberta Environment and Parks approved CEUs: 0.6
Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment CEUs: 0.6

Currently being assessed for CEUs by Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship

Who Should Attend: Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Water Distribution, and Wastewater Collections Operators, as well as any non-certified professionals working in the water/wastewater treatment field. This may include EITs/junior engineers, lab technicians, and those in public works/utilities, environmental sustainability or planning departments.

You will need:
 Access to the internet (preferably high speed)
 A device (laptop/desktop computer or a tablet)
 Speakers and a microphone (preferably a headset. If you do not have a microphone you are still able to participate and use the chat feature to send questions & comments. (Except for MMP - microphone is required).
 Test your system 24 hours ahead of time (make sure you can log on using the link that will be emailed to you and do an audio check while online)
Recording only Requirements: access to the internet, a device, speakers. As per the the follow-up email you will receive, you will have access to the recording at any time until the stated expiry date.

Withdrawals and Refunds

Certificate Program Courses:  Your registration will be fully refunded when notice of withdrawal is given seven (7) days before the course start date.  Less than seven (7) days before the course start date, no refund will be issued.  When you are unable to attend your course, you may arrange for someone to take your place by contacting Continuing Education & Corporate Training at work@northernlakescollege.ca or 780-849-8623.

Cancellation

Northern Lakes College reserves the right to re-schedule or cancel a course that lacks sufficient registrations to provide a satisfactory learning atmosphere. In this event your registration fee will be refunded in full or applied to the re-scheduled course.

Fee Payment

Fee Payment: Fees are due at the time of registration. Northern Lakes College accepts cash, cheque, money order, debit, VISA, MasterCard, American Express. Invoicing to a company requires a Purchase Order (PO).
