Daniel Lemieux

Dan Lemieux has a Bachelor of Science in Forestry (B.Sc.F.) from the University of Toronto and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Athabasca University. Dan holds the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation, the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) Designation and the Certified Local Government Manager (CLGM) Designation. Dan started his work career in the private sector before moving to municipal government. He has been employed by the City of Grande Prairie for over 25 years and has held a number of management positions at the City. Dan is currently the Fire Chief at the Grande Prairie Fire Department.

Any time people work together differences of opinion, approach and priorities are inevitable. As a supervisor, you often have to deal with the fallout. In this course you will learn to maximize the opportunities created by differing ideas while reducing the potential for destructive conflict that results in anger, withdrawal or damage to morale.

 Recognize the benefits of healthy conflict
 Identify the principles and steps for managing conflict
 Anticipate behaviours based on understanding thoughts and feelings
 Explore a variety of conflict resolution approaches and match them to the situation
 Use a 4-step approach to managing anger
 Conduct conflict resolution meetings

This course is part of the Essential Skills for Supervisors Certificate Program.

Certificate Program Courses:  Your registration will be fully refunded when notice of withdrawal is given seven (7) days before the course start date.  Less than seven (7) days before the course start date, no refund will be issued.
