This module focuses on the application of accounting and finance principles as it pertains to the maintenance management role. The module will give you an understanding of the foundation principles of accounting and cover the four main pillars of accounting knowledge the maintenance manager needs to support a successful maintenance department. These four main pillars are: Project Analysis, Budgeting/Forecasting, Cost Analysis for Managerial Decisions, and MRO Inventory.

Sessions are delivered LIVE ONLINE via internet conferencing - distance learning. Ten, 3 hour weekly evening sessions.
Course materials include a textbook and a participant workbook. The participant workbook is available in Moodle (the Learning Management System used for this course) as a pdf that you can download. Access to your course in Moodle is available 14 days before the course start date.

Michael Helferty has 35+ years industrial/manufacturing experience including senior roles in operations, maintenance, and engineering management and leadership. He has developed and implemented maintenance management systems to achieve increased operational reliability and reduced cost while working with people and teams to achieve personal and organizational goals and objectives. Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in human resources and labour relations, having administered collective agreements, including collective bargaining as well as grievance arbitrations. In addition, Michael has a very strong business/financial acumen with extensive experience in budgeting, cost management, capital project management and identifying/quantifying impactful cost savings opportunities. He has a strong passion for safety and has been a recurring speaker at WSPS (Workplace Safety and Prevention Services) events. Michael has also strategically and successfully laid out and aligned operations with the human resources required to meet organizational objectives. An in-class instructor for PEMAC since 2004, Michael has taught Modules 1-4 online for the past eight years.

Withdrawals and Refunds
An administrative fee of $50 will be charged for all cancelled or transferred registrations. Tuition will be fully refunded less the $50 administration fee when notice of withdrawal is given 14 days before the course start date. A partial refund of 75% of the tuition fee is granted if notice of withdrawal is received less than 14 days prior to the course start date and up to 14 days after the course start date. Fees paid for materials and shipping are non-refundable.
Fees are due at the time of registration. Northern Lakes College accepts cash, cheque, money order, debit, VISA, MasterCard, American Express. Invoicing to a company requires a Purchase Order (PO).
