Program Details

Program Description

Are you interested in a diverse career that services industries such as mining, forestry, oil and gas? This program will prepare Apprentice Mobile Crane Operators for the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training First Period theory and practical examinations.

Boom Truck Operators have endless career options. You could work as an employee, contractor, sub-contractor or even start your own business! Mobile Crane and Hoisting Equipment Operators service and operate the hoist and swing equipment used to move machinery, materials and other large objects. Mobile Crane Operators service and operate booms that are mounted on crawlers or wheeled frames as well as traveling, fixed or climbing type hoisting equipment with a vertical mast or tower and a jib.

Operators manipulate many pedals and levers to rotate the crane, and raise and lower its boom and one or more loadlines. Some or all of these operations may be performed simultaneously.

To start your career training with Northern Lakes College you must first be a registered apprentice with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. See for more details.
