Critical Analysis of Play


Course Description

This course addresses understanding of drama through critical analysis of plays and its application to creative solutions in theatre production. A variety of representative dramatic texts are examined and analysed from ancient Greece to the present. Students will be introduced to a specific vocabulary and will examine play texts from the contexts of director, designer, dramaturge, actor, and critic. Students will learn about elements of play construction, structure, plot, social context, characteriziation, and language.
