Mind over Metal Welding Camp
Northern Lakes College in partnership with the Canadian Welding Association Foundation and Stelco will be hosting a Mind Over Metal Welding Camp in High Level.
Indigenous CAREERS Explorers Academy
Youth are given the opportunity to experience actual work site conditions and be exposed to a variety of occupations through a five week classroom learning and internship.
Students from Slave Lake and the Lesser Slave Lake Region will gain an understanding and appreciation for responsibilities and duties of specified occupations. The goal of the program is for youth to develop relationships with industry and gain exposure to employment/career prospects. The intent is to keep the youth motivate to finish school and pursue post-secondary education in order to gain a life-fulfilling career in an area of interest.
Health Sciences CAREER Academy
Northern Lakes College has partnered with Alberta Health Services, and CAREERS: The Next Generation to offer a three-day interactive, educational and unique summer camp opportunity for students interested in a health care career. This interactive, educational and unique summer camp in Slave Lake will provide students with the opportunity to explore a variety of health sciences programs and careers.
Registration Deadline is July 20, 2018.
Métis Youth Culture Camp
The Metis Nation of Alberta is holding a, free of charge, summer camp from July 15th to 21st for MNA youth between the ages of 13 and 17. Campers will sleep in trapper tents, participate in a canoe expedition from Métis Crossing to Victoria Settlement, participate in harvesting and hide tanning workshops, voyageur games, and of course, learn cultural activities such as finger-weaving, beading, and dance.
