Groundsworkers (2 positions) - NLC-1664

Hourly Rate: $13.60 to $15.00 per hour

June 1, 2018 to August 24, 2018


  • Enrolled in a post-secondary program. 
  • At least 15 years of age A Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or person protected under the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and legally entitled to work and study in Canada. 
  • International students and Temporary Foreign Workers are not eligible for STEP.
  • Resides in Alberta with Alberta address.
  • Returning to post-secondary institution to continue studying full-time in the fall.
  • Must be enrolled in a program that will result in a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree.
  • Is available for full-time summer employment.

Major Job Function:

Reports to the Manager, Facilities, Maintenance & Operations and is responsible for assisting with day-to-day maintenance of college facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties will include grass cutting, with both, push and riding lawn mowers;

Trimming trees and shrubs and garden planting;

Cleaning debris from the grounds;

Building maintenance and painting;

Assisting staff members with other duties as required.

Skills and Knowledge

Must be physically able to perform grounds and maintenance work;

Well-organized, friendly and approachable;

Able to take direction;

Pay attention to detail, understand the importance of accuracy;

Possess good oral and written communication skills;

Possess good work ethic and be willing to perform a variety of tasks.
