PASS YOUR DRIVER'S TEST AND THE ATHABASCA CEC WILL REIMBURSE YOUR COSTS!

The Northern Lakes College Athabasca Community Education Committee is offering a full reimbursement to Athabasca students who successfully pass their Class 7 Learners or Class 5 Drivers test and license before May 15, 2025. Receipt required.

The Cadotte Lake CEC is sponsoring H2S Alive and Ground Disturbance

The in-person training will be held at the Cadotte Lake Campus and is available to individuals in the communities of Cadotte Lake and Little Buffalo. Refreshments and a hot lunch will be provided. 

H2S Alive: March 25, 2025 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Ground Disturbance: March 26, 2025 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

STUDENT AWARDS

Monthly Awards - $25 per month
Academic Upgrading Students with attendance of 95% or better will receive $25.00 per month.

Semester Awards
Academic Upgrading - $75 per semester in each category
• Highest grades
• Best effort in Adult Basic Education
• Best effort in Academic Upgrading
• Best attendance

Careers and University Studies - $75 per semester
• Best effort
• Highest GPA (submit marks by the end of January)

Other Awards
Convocation Assistance - up to $200
Prepare a formal business letter asking for assistance. Ask Student Learning Assistant for further details.

Chantel Marie Bulldog Award - $1,000
Full-time or part-time student attending Fort Vermilion Campus or living in Fort Vermilion. In good academic standing, in financial need, facing/overcoming barriers
or obstacles and show dedication to studies. Can be nominated by faculty or staff. Deadline: February 23, 2024.

End of the Year Awards
Academic Upgrading - $150 per year in each category

• Overall best effort
• Overall best attendance

Careers or University Studies - $150 per year
Overall highest grades.

Academic Upgrading, Careers, and University Studies $150 per year – Perseverance Award
A student nominated by staff will receive $150.

Academic Upgrading
Chance to win a free laptop! Academic Upgrading students with 100%
monthly attendance or a 90% average will be entered in the draw.

Careers or University Studies
Chance to win a free laptop! By entering your name and marks in at the end of each semester, the student with the overall highest academic marks for the year will win the laptop.

Eligible students for End of Year Awards must have attended for the entire academic year.
Application Deadlines Term 1 – January 31, 2024 & Term 2 – May 30, 2024
Submit applications to the Student Learning Assistant at the end of each term.

Grouard

The Grouard CEC is sponsoring Achievement Awards! 

The Grouard CEC will be awarding $100 to each student with a grade average of 75% or more, twice per term.

Awards will be given at the end of October, January, March, and June.

*NLC Grouard Students only.

The Grouard CEC is sponsoring Completion Awards.

The Grouard CEC will give $100 to any student who successfully completes their program this school year.

This is for students who are connected to the NLC Grouard campus only.

Register for any NLC Continuing Education Course maximum $200 dollars available per person $20 dollar commitment fee (except for NLC students).

Register for any online NLC Continuing Education Course maximum $250 dollars.

  • Course fees must not exceed $250.00.
  • Courses are offered first come first served

CEC Awards For Peace River Students

$200 for Practicum Travel: Get $200 to support your practicum travel expenses. Apply now!

$400 Award for Peace River Outreach Alumni: Completed a course in the last 3 years? Demonstrate financial need (70%) and academic achievement (30%) while passing all Northern Lakes College courses to qualify!

$100 Staff-nominated Award:

  • Five awarded in February and five in June.
  • Staff will nominate students based on the following: most improved, perseverance, community volunteerism, involvement in school, helping other students, and in good standing as a student.
  • No Application Needed, staff will nominate students who meet the criteria.

Awards are for Northern Lakes College students in the Peace River Campus Region.

Learners License Prep

Peavine CEC in partnership with High Prairie CALP and Peavine Métis Settlement are offering Learners License Prep for residents 14+.

March 27 & 28, 2025 10am-4pm

At the Northern Lakes College Peavine Campus. Light refreshments will be provided by Peavine Métis Settlement. Open to all Peavine Residents.

Food Safety Certification

Peavine CEC in partnership with Peavine Métis Settlement are offering Food Safety Certification.

April 23, 2025 9am-4pm at the Peavine Recreation Centre

$20 Commitment Fee, the fee is waived for students.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided by Peavine Métis Settlement.

Open to all Peavine Residents 18+.

Ground Disturbance
Level II - Alberta (ABCGA Endorsed)

The Peavine CEC is sponsoring Ground Disturbance Level II - Alberta (ABCGA Endorsed). Sponsorship is available for 11 people, so first come first served. $20 commitment fee, which will be waived if you are a student. Peavine residents only.

The Slave Lake CEC wants to recognize the achievements made by students who are connected to the Slave Lake Campus.

$150 Highest Mark Award
A $150 Highest Mark Award will automatically be given to one student from each program area, with the highest average grade for the Fall and Winter Semester.

Business & Administrative Studies
Health Careers
Human Service Careers
University Studies

• Students can win in both semesters if they have the highest mark.
• Students will be automatically entered.
• Winners will be chosen at the end of term once final grades are available.

The Slave Lake CEC wants to recognize the achievements made by students who are connected to the Slave Lake Campus.

$100 Staff Recognition Award
A $100 Staff Recognition Award will be given to recognize all levels of achievement made by NLC Slave Lake students.

ANY NLC employee can nominate a student to recognize all the hard work they’ve put in.

• A student can only win once per term.
• Students must be passing all courses to be eligible.
• 15 awards will be given out for each term.
• Winning in the fall term doesn’t disqualify you from winning in the winter term.

The Stony Point CEC will be awarding students with an average grade of 75% or higher! Awards will be given at the end of each term. Open to AU and Post-Secondary students.
