Qualifications:

  • University Degree and/or related Technical Diplomas is required in the field of B.Sc. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Information Technology Management is preferred;
  • 5 years’ experience managing complex application solutions primarily based on Microsoft technologies (DHCP, Windows OS, AD and Exchange);
  • Class 5 drivers license;
  • Clean criminal record check prior to commencement.

Suggested additional qualifications:

  • MCSE –Microsoft Systems Certified Engineer;
  • DevOps Certification
  • CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Administrator (or Aruba equivalent)
  • CISM – Certified Information Security Manager;

Job Description

Title:  Network Analyst

Department:  Information Technology Services

Purpose:

To install and maintain the information and communications systems, monitor use and report on abuse of the systems. Design and develop servers and network infrastructure to ensure security of data. To coordinate installation and service provision from external sources where needed. To advise supervisor on server and network best practices and technology as well as cost of systems. To help staff use the systems more effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for configuration and administration of the Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services.   This would also include account creation and removal, granting / removing access to security groups and distribution lists
  2. Responsible for setup, configuration and administration of the virtual infrastructure using Scale technologies and Microsoft Azure cloud.   This includes server creation, updating of system, and management of storage containers.
  3. Follow information security best practices to help ensure our information is secure and data integrity is maintained.
  4. Setup, configuration and administration of the Exchange mail system.  This includes mailbox creation, distribution group management, updates to software, and monitoring ongoing performance.
  5. Setup, configuration and management of the iSCSI storage arrays.
  6. Setup, configuration and management of the NLC learning management system running on Linux, with multiple authentication and enrollment methods. 
  7. Setup, configuration and management of the Unitrends and Azure backup system.  This includes ensuring up to date backups, properly replication of system offsite, and restoring data from backup, and archiving to disk.
  8. Act as a backup specialist in the management of the Aruba network, Ruckus wireless, and firewalls and security infrastructure.
  9. Assist in troubleshooting software application and technical issues, identifying opportunities for improvement where needed.
  10. Write technical procedures and documentation for various applications. Create and update requirement documentation of College systems. The documentation would include technical processes, workflows, system recovery, procedures, regulations and other documents as required.
  11. Provide technical leadership in the College’s transition to cloud and shared IT service delivery model.
  12. Provides assistance and advice to staff and students in the effective use of applications and information technology. Responds to IT Services service desk requests and tickets in areas of expertise.
  13. Training and communications with Staff. This includes training staff on proper procedures and use of software and devices and sending out timely notices to staff in regard to system, procedure and use changes.
  14. Assist in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for new development projects. Planning for future system migrations, upgrades and capacity needs using needs analysis. Provide supervisor recommendation for migrations, upgrades and new technologies and related costs.
  15. Research of new technologies and methodologies and reporting on how the college could benefit from them.
  16. Management of external services to ensure SLA's are met. This includes requesting installation and removal of services to meet changing College needs.
  17. Participate in weekly IT team meetings to discuss/review progress and issues to be resolved.
  18. Travel to campuses to perform duties as required.
  19. Follow College policies, procedures and regulations.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Server and IT Infrastructure Administrator.
  • Must have strong hands on experience in the analysis, design and deployment of Windows Active Directory/Exchange in an enterprise environment.
  • Must have outstanding analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations and respond quickly to provide options and action plans to solve problems
  • Working knowledge of Hardware, Network, Storage layers, NAS and SAN technologies.
    Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems (Windows 7, 8.x, 10, Server 2008, 2012).
  • Must be familiar with MS Office 365 Administration,
  • Extensive understanding of the implementation of Cloud services and offerings Azure in particular
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies like SaaS, IaaS, Private Cloud, Cloud storage and Virtual Desktops
  • Knowledge of Researching new and existing technologies to increase operational efficiency, performance and value to clients and stakeholder
  • Experience with ITSM solution for management and reporting of Incident, Problem, Service Request and Change Requests
  • Credible and professional presence; ability to interact effectively with clients and team members; often via phone and/or e-mail
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Work within a team environment with minimal supervision
