Course Description

BEL 301 Math is a preparatory course for students going into BEL 303 Math or Math 10-3. Students will gain understanding and appreciation of the contributions of mathematics as a science, philosophy, and art. They will engage and persevere in mathematical tasks and projects. Students will learn to transfer math skills in successful problem-solving. The main goal is to become mathematically literate adults who use mathematics to contribute to society. Students will reinforce number sense through a review of mental math concepts and computation. Students will apply these essentials skills when working with fractions, ratios, proportions, percentages, measurement, and geometry. Math concepts will be used when students work with basic algebra and when they solve problems that have real life applications.
