Course Description

Students will further advance their skills in reading comprehension and develop skills in vocabulary, reading to learn, and reading strategies. Students will also learn about writing mechanics, sentence structure, composition (paragraphs and essays), functional writing, resource-generated writing, and utilizing writing tools and aids. They will further develop and use listening, viewing, and speaking skills to achieve the basic aims of English language arts: to encourage an understanding and appreciation of the significance and artistry of literature and to enable students to use language confidently for a variety of purposes (with diverse audiences, in a range of situations for career, personal satisfaction, and lifelong learning).
