Course Description

Students will build on their skills in word identification, spelling, sentence mechanics, and reading comprehension. Students will also develop and reinforce their skills in functional reading and writing, writing compositions (paragraphs), studying, and reading to learn. Skills in listening, viewing, and speaking, together with oral presentations, will also be a focus in order to achieve the basic aims of English language arts: to encourage an understanding and appreciation of the significance and artistry of literature and to enable students to use language for a variety of purposes (with diverse audiences, in a range of situations for career, personal satisfaction, and lifelong learning).
