Course Description

This course provides knowledge and understanding of social policy and its relationship and impact on social work. Social policy concepts are discussed and then applied to a variety of Canadian policy issues and societal trends. The benefits and disadvantages of various social policies will be examined from the perspective of consumer groups. Students will be encouraged to raise issues and examples from their own experiences and to examine these in view of historical and current political realities.
