Course Description

Models and approaches to social work practice are introduced in this course. Concepts reflecting oppression and oppressed populations will be examined from historical and current perspectives. Students will learn how oppression has affected clients, families, and communities. The role of the social worker as a promoter of anti-oppressive practices is a major focus of the course. Students will use self-reflection and sharing of own experiences to learn strategies to promote anti-oppressive policy and practice.
