Course Description

This course will use a multidisciplinary, theoretical and empirical approach to examine the writing of selected Indigenous peoples and early Canadian settlers and immigrants beginning in the 19th century just prior to, and after Canadian confederation to about the year 2000. This writing is examined in order to build a critical and historical understanding of how Indigenous peoples and settlers perceived these lands as well as their interactions with each other.
