Course Description

This course examines and explores the concept and processes, practice and promises of reconciliation and redress in Canada. Through class discussion/lectures and comparative readings in: Canadian and Indigenous colonial history; the findings of the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls for Action; the Human Rights Tribunal Decision (Cindy Blackstock decision, January 26, 2016) on the Welfare of Indigenous Children and the rise of Indigenous solidarity movements in Canada.
