Course Description

This course surveys works of literature in English from the eighteenth century to the present, with a focus on reading literature in its historical and socio-political context. The course includes literary works of poetry, prose, and drama. Students will be expected to read extra-textual materials from their anthology such as introductions and essays on historical context. The course will require students to read the primary texts closely and critically.
