Course Description

Introductory Cree Language is a continuation of INDG1000 and provides instruction at the introductory level. It is designed for students who have successfully completed
INDG1000 or an approved equivalent. Students will continue their learning of basic Cree language and culture over a 15-week period. Students will learn the spoken use of Cree through online instruction, activities, language labs and self-evaluation. The course will increase the students' understanding of the Y dialect with a growing vocabulary, and will increase the students' fluency in spoken Cree. Students will be able to comprehend simple written sentences, speak with more confidence, read with a moderate ability in the Roman orthography, and feel comfortable with a more substantial vocabulary. Students will further their understanding of Cree culture and protocol.
