Course Description

This course introduces students to the broad trends and major events of human history from pre-history to the fifteenth century. Students will examine the interplay between technological, ideological, geographical, political, economic and cultural factors that shaped the unfolding of the human story. As well, students will be introduced to the use of primary historical documents and to the basics of historical research and writing. Combined with HIST 1110, this course provides a complete survey of human history from pre-modern to modern times. It will serve as a foundation for the future study in this area.
