Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work;
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers;
  • Work experience in the field of Addictions;
  • Experience teaching adults in an online teaching environment;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Driver’s License;
  • Knowledge of educational technologies, such as Bongo and Brightspace an asset.

Successful candidate must provide college or university transcripts and criminal record check to Human Resources prior to commencement.

Job Description

Instructor, Addictions Counselling

Major Job Function:

This position is responsible for the planning, preparation and delivery of instruction, and the evaluation of learning to adult learners in the Addictions Counselling program.  The position requires coordination with learners, other instructors, counselors and administration to facilitate learner success.  The incumbent reports to the Chair, Human Services and University Studies.  Travel to various campuses and agencies is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning and preparation of instruction;
  • Delivery of instruction.  Must address various learning styles and needs;
  • Courses will be primarily delivered asynchronously, however one may be required to work and deliver classes during the evening;
  • All courses will be delivered online using Collaborate Ultra, Bongo, and/or Desire to Learn;
  • Evaluate and report on student learning;
  • Conduct student performance reviews with individual students, in collaboration with other team members and counseling services;
  • Perform administrative tasks;
  • Assist in the recruitment and enrolment of students;
  • Track student attendance;
  • Submit interim and year end reports;
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of student information;
  • Submit enrolment information and marks in a timely manner;
  • Assist the students in finding practicum placements;
  • Plan and assist in the development and facilitation of labs and training seminars;
  • Liaison with industry to ensure program is meeting industry needs;
  • Work collaboratively with other departments of the College to facilitate learner success;
  • Management and supervision of student practicum placements.
