Northern Lakes College has the following full-time position available:

Facilities Assistant

Salary: $45,524 to $51,504 per year

Location: Slave Lake 

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalency;
  • Standard First Aid;
  • Basic grounds maintenance experience;
  • Physically fit;
  • Ability to work alone in a remote setting;
  • Operation of basic small grounds equipment and snow removal equipment;
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license.

Major Job Function:

This position is responsible for the daily grounds work, operation and maintenance of NLC Campuses and Facilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Checking in/out of user groups;
  • Insuring that the campus buildings are left clean and in good repair;
  • Perform basic landscaping duties and operation of grounds lawn mower & equipment;
  • Perform snow removal at sites and operation of snow removal equipment;
  • Maintain fuel and water levels in various equipment and machinery;
  • Belt and filter changes on associated machinery and equipment;
  • Assist Maintenance service workers and Trades personnel in the performance of their related duties and tasks
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks as required;
  • Event set up and take down
  • Furniture assembly, disassembly and relocation
  • Drive college vehicles as required.

  • Senior Director of Facilities, Facilities Manager, Housing/Vehicle Coordinator, Facilities Staff, College Tenants, Public Facilities/Recreational Users, Police.

Assets:

  • Chain saw operators’ course;
  • Knowledge of the college mandate and mission statement;
  • Knowledge of the college campus use policies and procedures.

Suggested Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working with public, understanding of professional conduct and appearance.

This position is covered under the Collective Agreement between Northern Lakes College and the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees.
