Ceremony at 1:00 p.m.

Location:
Multi Recreation Centre (MRC)

*Please note: The MRC is also an Evacuation Centre. If we are required to move our event to another location, we will let you know. Keep an eye on your student email and the Convocation webpage for details.

Graduate Arrival Time: A mandatory rehearsal will start at noon. Please allow time for gown pick-up and photos BEFORE this rehearsal. Students will remain in the rehearsal queues until it is time to start the ceremony at 1pm.

Gown information: Gowns, stoles, and caps will be available at the venue and can be picked up on the day of the ceremony beginning at 9:00 a.m. Gowns must be returned immediately after the ceremony.

Photographs: Professional photos will be taken of each student as they walk across the stage to receive their scroll. These photos will be publicly available on the NLC website by June 18th. Students will be required to sign a photo consent and release form prior to the ceremony. Special arrangements can be made with students who do not wish to have their photo taken. Other photo opportunities will be set up around the venue to take your own pictures before or after the ceremony. Professional graduate portraits are available through a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There is a cost of $50.00 (cash only) to be paid directly to the photographer that includes the session fee and one digital download. A link to a photo gallery will be emailed by our photographer to each graduate by June 30th.You can choose your favourite pose and purchase additional digital files or prints.

Who may participate: If you have successfully completed your program, you may attend as a graduate. Please talk with your program adviser or campus instructor to confirm your completion status.

Guests: Due to the venue’s fire code regulations, and to ensure all graduates attending can have guests, there will be a limit of two guests per graduate. Grads are responsible for indicating the number of guests (none, one, or two) when they RSVP. Children do need a ticket. Please note that guest tickets are non-transferable and must be picked up by the graduate who reserved them, between 9:00 a.m. and noon on June 7. Guest tickets not claimed by noon will be redistributed to those on a waiting list.

Extra Tickets: Requests for up to three extra tickets can be sent to convocation@northernlakescollege.ca. They will be date stamped and replied to in the order they were received. All requests will be answered by May 24. If we are at capacity after the RSVP deadline, extra guest tickets will not be available. If you need more than five tickets total (original two plus request for extra three), we will have a waiting list at the venue. Any allocated guest tickets not claimed by noon will be redistributed to the waiting list at 12:15.

Accessibility: We are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible event for all graduates. If you require mobility assistance, please indicate your needs through the RSVP portal as soon as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements. We recommend that all graduates come early to have enough time to claim guest tickets, pick up their gown, take photos, and participate in the rehearsal.

If you are on track to graduate, your invitation will be sent to your NLC email address by the Registrar between April 19 and 26. Please RSVP by May 17, 2024, using the RSVP link in your invitation.

IMPORTANT: If you do not RSVP, you cannot bring guests. You may also not get a convocation gown.
