Featured: DCCI Scholarship for Canadian Students with Disabilities

Disability Credit Canada is committed to helping young disabled Canadians achieve their goals in higher education or vocational training towards employment and we are proud to be offering the “DCCI Scholarship for Canadian Students with Disabilities”. The annual scholarship winner will be awarded $1,000 towards their tuition to an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution. The scholarship will be awarded to a Canadian high school student with a documented disability who is pursuing post-secondary education in the field of study in health care, criminal justice or community & social services at an accredited Canadian institution for the upcoming academic year 2019/2020.


Who Is Eligible to Apply?

  • Applicant must be currently registered to a full-time program of study in the field of study in health care, criminal justice or community & social services at an accredited Canadian post-secondary college or university
  • Applicant must be a Canadian citizens or permanent resident of Canada
  • Applicant must have a documented disability
  • Applicant must be under 20 years of age at time of application

Alberta Blue Cross awards: Entrance Scholarship for Indigenous Students

Alberta Blue Cross has established three awards for indigenous students who are completing their high school education and entering their first year of post-secondary study at an accredited institution. Alberta Blue Cross issues three awards each year. Awards range from $750 to $1,500.

Alberta Blue Cross awards: Scholarship for Mature Indigenous Students

The Alberta Blue Cross Scholarship for Mature Indigenous Students is for individuals who have demonstrated community involvement, and achievement of personal goals ad who demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is for students who are defined as “mature” by their post-secondary institution. Alberta Blue Cross issues three awards each year. Awards range from $750 to $1,500.

ATCO Indigenous Awards Program

ATCO provides financial awards to Canadian First Nation, Inuit and Métis students who demonstrate leadership and commitment in their quest for higher education. ATCO is committed to supporting the development of Indigenous leaders in communities across Canada. There are three different awards available.

Branch #110 Slave Lake Legion Bursary

The Branch #110 Slave Lake Legion has instituted a bursary for students who are Veterans, children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren of any veteran. The bursary is granted at the end of February and is paid from the Branch #110 Poppy fund. The student must be attending at least their second year of a program that covers two or more years towards a degree or diploma.

Midwest Surveys Indigenous Education Bursary

This bursary supports Indigenous students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to pursue a post-secondary education in Geomatics and related disciplines. Two (2) bursaries shall be provided annually to students demonstrating financial need, involvement in and contribution to community as a whole and/or demonstrated academic merit and performance. We hope recipients find these bursaries to be beneficial in pursuit of their goals.

NADC - Bursary

The NADC Bursary is a return service bursary of $6,000 per year for a maximum of two years, and is offered to students in their final two years of post-secondary studies. It is meant to encourage students to train for jobs that are in demand in northern Alberta.

NADC - First Nation, Métis and Inuit Bursary

The First Nation, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) NADC Bursary is a return service bursary of varying amounts. Students in pre-apprenticeship training, or in a certificate or diploma studies can access up to $6,000 for their studies. Students in a Bachelor’s, Masters’ or PhD program can access $10,000 per year for any year of their studies.

NADC - Nurse Practitioner Bursary

The Nurse Practitioner Bursary is a return service bursary of $9,000 or $18,000 per year for up to 3 years. It is an incentive to encourage nurse practitioners to practice in northern Alberta upon graduation.

One AWWA Operator Scholarship

The One AWWA Operator Scholarship is funded through the support of AWWA’s The Water Equation Campaign and the Western Canada Section AWWA. AWWA’s The Water Equation Campaign and the Western Canada Section AWWA, will award the One AWWA Operator Scholarship in the amount of $500 for Water Operator training and education.

TOLKO Indigenous Scholarships

Five $1,000 Scholarship Awards

Tolko Industries Slave Lake and High Prairie Woodlands Divisions are proud to offer five scholarships to recognize and support Indigenous high school graduates from the Lesser Slave Lake region who are pursuing post-secondary education and a career path in natural resource management and environmental stewardship.

Tolko is committed to youth and to supporting those interested in pursuing their education. Giving back to our families by supporting the next generation of employees is rewarding. We have provided many scholarships to students over the years, most of whom live in the communities we live and work in.

The selection committee is made up of Tolko’s Woodlands staff in both Slave Lake and High Prairie Divisions.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Scholarships are only available to Indigenous students (First Nations/Metis) from the Lesser Slave Lake region and apply to students pursuing any of the following post-secondary education areas of study or career paths:
• Forestry
• Biology
• Ecology
• Agrology
• Archeology
• Indigenous Studies
• Environmental Chemistry
• Environmental Engineering
• Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Land Surveying


HOW TO APPLY
The applicant must provide the following:
• Proof of acceptance into a recognized post-secondary educational institution (technical college or university) confirming their chosen field or area of study.

Veterans Affairs Canada Education and Training Benefit

The Education and Training Benefit helps you achieve your education and career goals. You may be eligible to receive up to $80,000 in funding. Veterans will not be limited to formal post-secondary training. The benefit may also be used for career or personal development courses that give Veterans purpose and help them feel satisfied with their main post-military job or activity.
