Course Description
This course focuses on the management of gynecological emergencies, care and management of the expectant mother, and the care and management of the neonate. The first part of the course will outline the management of the normal pregnancy, labour, antepartum care, and postpartum care, obstetrical emergencies, and gynecological emergencies. Appropriate management of abnormal delivery presentations and complications of labour and delivery, such as postpartum hemorrhage, will be discussed. In addition, studies will include neonatal illnesses, neonatal injuries, and advanced treatment modalities for the neonate including umbilical vein cannulation. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be certified in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
