Course Description

This course prepares students to support line managers in employee management. Hiring, discipline, and termination in both unionized and non-unionized environments will be explored. Students will also be prepared to provide organizational leadership in labour relations by preparing for collective bargaining, negotiating, and interpreting agreements. Alternative processes to negotiated settlements will be examined, including arbitration and mediation.
