Power Mobile Equipment (PME): Safe Operation and Risk Management

Course Description

This six-hour course educates on the detailed planning and safe use of Power Mobile Equipment. The session includes what is PME, the worker's rights, and the training required by PME operators. A sizeable portion of the training is dedicated to hazard identification and assessment. The workshop includes operator competency and responsibilities, with equipment inspection stressed. The obligations of the employer are delineated through the PME requirements legislation, with OHS offences explained. The training includes explanation of what is risk, and the hazards at various types of worksites. The participants will analyze two case studies, one from an operational incident and one from failed planning. A quiz and question/answer portion completes the training.

This course qualifies for 0.6 Continuing Education Unit Credits for Alberta Water and Wastewater Operators. Attendance and participation are required along with a 70% or greater mark on the final quiz to receive the course completion certificate.
