Add to cartWorking in Boreal forest management requires a practical knowledge of vegetation within this forest region. Students will learn to identify a variety of Boreal plants through knowledge of the plant's characteristic parts, life cycles, site, soils and moisture preferences, and associations with other plant types, in a variety of seasonal life stages. These plant associations are the basis for an understanding of Boreal ecosystems. An understanding of Boreal ecosystems and characteristic vegetation, especially the commercial and site indicator species is required to plan for a suite of ecological goods and services as well as forest harvest, reforestation and access construction for all extensive activities on forested land.
