The Early Learning and Child Care Diploma Program at Northern Lakes College will give you the training you need to work in this rewarding career. You will be trained to work with children from birth to 12 years of age in settings such as daycares, preschools, after-school programs, and private day homes. Practicum agencies may require an up-to-date Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector) and an Alberta Children's Services Intervention Record Check of students placed in their organizations. The inability to present clear checks may prevent a student from completing the program requirements. Basic computer skills and reliable high speed internet connection are required. Contact the Program Coordinator for further information.
Successful completion of a recognized Early Learning and Child Care post-secondary certificate program from an institution in Alberta. Transcripts from other provinces will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Successful completion of an Early Learning and Child Care Certificate Program offered in Alberta is preferred.
