Essential Skills for Instructors/Facilitators (Adult Education)

The Essential Skills for Instructors Program consists of 5 courses to help all instructors improve their practice of instruction whether in the trade shop, the health lab, in the classroom, online - wherever your instruction of students takes you.

The courses are designed to be taken in order (except for Course 4 which can be taken at any time) and weave together essential skills that every instructor needs to help students be successful.

Each course has been designed especially for instructors who don't have an educational background while still making room for seasoned educators to learn something from taking this program.

Do you lead a group of instructors? Consider taking the courses with them to help build a robust team of educational professionals in your department.

The 5 Courses:

ESI001: Creating a Positive Learning Environment
ESI002: Planning Instruction
ESI003: Teaching Workshop
ESI004: Assisting Students with Learning Barriers
ESI005: Effective Online Instruction

Each course is approximately 24 hours and delivered in a unique way to engage, instruct and model the skills being taught. All courses will be supported by asynchronous activities and learning resources in Moodle (online learning management system).

* Courses denoted with an asterisk (*) are offered online with a video recording of the course lectures.
